1st encounter
Daughter looks closely at bumble bee on dandelion. She is mesmerized. Boy (not her Brother) comes over and FREAKS out with a gasp followed by "OH My God!"
Next few weeks, daughter and son LOVE saying "OH My God!" Mommy cringes every time and corrects them to say "Oh My Gosh" but that is so close to "OH My God!" and there seems to be some "unintentional" mistakes. So Mommy converts kids to say "Oh My Goodness!" Still "unintentional oops" are made.
FINALLY, daughter asks why Mommy and Daddy don't want her to say "OH My God!"
Mommy replies: "Because saying that is not very nice to God."
Daughters glances in sky and nods as if she completely understands.
Two weeks later.....
Daughter comes screaming down the hallway yelling, "Mommy, Brother is being mean to God!"
2nd encounter
Scene: It's Raining, Mommy and Daughter driving....
Daughter asks: "Mommy, is God crying when it rains?"
Mommy explains the science of rain (as best she can)
Later that night.....
Daughter says to Son, "Brother, God isn't crying when SHE makes it rain."
Son to Daughter: "God is NOT a girl!!"
Daughter so son: "Yes SHE is!!"
Fight ensues...."God is a girl! No, God is a boy! No, God is a girl! No, God is boy!......"
Mommy takes deep sigh and tries to explain (as best she can to a 4 and 8 year old)....
God shows us every single day just how we are so incredibly blessed. We love our babies!!
